Nubian Milk Goats
Sweet Milk for a Growing Family
We keep a small herd of Nubian dairy goats to provide our family with fresh milk. This means we have doelings and bucklings available for sale each summer (usually around July or August). Some doelings and bucklings can be registered with the CLRC while others are not and will be
priced accordingly.

We haven’t always kept a herd of exclusively Nubian goats; however we have found ourselves moving more and more towards Nubians as our herd develops. We have chosen the Nubian breed for several reasons. Firstly, their high butterfat milk produces a sweet flavour that doesn’t taste goaty at all. In fact, some people have mistaken our milk for cow’s milk because the flavour is so similar! Secondly, Nubians are considered a dual-purpose animal that grows quickly and provides good carcass yields. When we aren’t eating Wagyu beef, our family prefers goat meat to lamb. Thirdly, we have found Nubians to be a relatively hardy, healthy breed that doesn’t require a lot of fuss. Our goats do well on hay in the winter and happily trim down weeds, brush and small trees for us in the summer. Finally, our Nubians are sweet and affectionate. They are gentle and interactive with our children. And besides, who couldn’t help but fall in love with those beautiful long ears?
